Today in the HINDU newspaper, I came across this photo of a woman clinging on to her 3 ducks and crying. Before handing them over to the authorities for culling in West Bengal which is reeling under the bird flu threat. .. It may seem funny for some, but I was somehow touched.. donno why.. The fact that this woman is shedding a few tears for her pets, shows the kind of attachment she had for them… The birds in the picture seemed to know as well…maybe they would miss her too.. … A human – animal bonding… actually I thought that the birds were somehow lucky.. Here was somebody crying out for them and would be missing them..
Sometimes even humans aren’t that lucky…

You do have a good point to make. There are a lot of places that dig deeper though! :)It's reassuring to read the bonding b/w the women & her pets..The photo essay reveals tender truth about the human-pet bond & the complications that arise when commerce and love are two sides of the same coin However I knew right away that we were in sync as to our passion about companion pets. I believe without sentimentalizing or anthropomorphizing, the lensmen manages to portray the truth about the friendship between people and dogs.. When all is said and done, it is a sobering point of view for both the audience, and the human characters themselves.
Yet, I might ask the stakeholders of this topic in return, aren’t questions about the welfare of humans and animals in general inextricably bound?
